Deportation Numbers Soar

In 2011, there has been an 89% increase in the number of criminals being deported for crimes ranging from homicide to driving under the influence. According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, 400,000 people were deported from the United States in the last year. These drastic numbers have caused the American Civil Liberties Union to criticize President Obama’s administration’s focus on deportations. Approximately 1.2 million people have been deported since the Obama Administration took control in 2009.
